About this listen

Hollywood star Dakota Fanning narrates the audio of one of the most anticipated books of the year, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Weiner.

A glimmering novel set in the world of 2000s pop music about sisters, motherhood, young love, and the dreams we chase. The audio edition includes an original song inspired by the novel.

Cassie and Zoe Grossberg were thrust into the spotlight as The Griffin Sisters, a pop duo that defined the aughts. Together, they skyrocketed to the top, gracing MTV, SNL, and the cover of Rolling Stone. Cassie, a musical genius who never felt at ease in her own skin, preferred to stay in the shadows. Zoe, full of confidence and craving fame, lived for the stage. But fame has a price, and after one turbulent year, the band abruptly broke up.

Now, two decades later, the sisters couldn’t be further apart. Zoe is a suburban mom warning her daughter Cherry to avoid the spotlight, while Cassie has disappeared from public life entirely. But when Cherry begins unearthing the truth behind their breathtaking rise and infamous breakup, long-buried secrets surface, forcing all three women to confront their choices, their desires, and their complicated bonds.

With richly developed characters, a nostalgic nod to the pop culture of the 2000s, and a resonant tale of ambition, forgiveness, and family, The Griffin Sisters' Greatest Hits will captivate listeners from the first note to the final encore. Whether you’ve followed Jennifer Weiner for years or are discovering her for the first time, this book is a must-listen for music lovers, fans of sisterly dramas, and anyone who cherishes a great story of second chances.

It was a little slow to start, but once you get into the character development you are hooked! I could not quit listening! I love jennifer Weiner ‘s writing! Dakota Fanning did an amazing job narrating.

Dakota Fanning was the perfect choice as narrator. Great story and character development, some twists and turns, just as we've come yo hope for from Ms. Weiner.

The growth of the sisters from the beginning of the story to the love at the end of the story is most heartwarming.

Unfortunately, in one particular area of the main character, Cassie.
It just doesn’t make sense if she was sequestered away for 20 years and depriving herself of all comforts of life, (including comforting foods) according to Cherry when she came to visit and was served the foods that she was served, it just doesn’t make sense that Cassie didn’t lose some weight. Working in the weight-loss industry for over 25 years I know if you go on a self imposed strict diet like Cassie seems, to deny herself “joy”, to be on that lifestyle diet she would’ve lost. Just because the author made such a point of making her always be fat. She could’ve at least given her that…a weight loss. She still might’ve been dark and brooding and maybe she wasn’t very attractive, but she still would’ve lost weight. She wouldn’t have had to wear caftans…
As far as the narrator, though I like Dakota Fanning, her narrative was dark and brooding throughout the whole book when there are times that she could’ve used different inflections to make it more light and fun.
That’s all…

Unfortunately, unrealistic in one crucial area

I loved every minute of it. It was wonderful. As I said in the title, it was amazing and captivating and it touched on every emotion.

Amazing and captivating

What the ending might be for this complicated story of the passions of its also complicated main characters. It wasn’t the ending that I hoped for, but Weiner’s ending was the right one

I never knew

I loved this book. Jennifer Weiner writes of pain and suffering and love and loss and redemption and recovery. In The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits, these themes blend into yet another best seller. I won’t give anything away, except to say, the final sentence is perfection.

Dakota Fanning’s read was also perfection. She brings this story to life and gives life to the story. Brilliant!

Dakota’s read, Jennifer’s story
