i would buy the next 4 books in 4 minuets. if you are looking for more like this lois mcmaster
bujold vorkosigan saga is a great series.it is so nice to see character based science fiction coming back.

Good start

How can a book be both interesting and boring? I really enjoyed the characters and the development. However, I was waiting on a conflict or some action when the book suddenly ended. Literally nothing happens in this book. Maybe book 2 will show more.

Not what I expected, but surprisingly enjoyable

Let me start out by saying that I was drawn in by the image-evoking name of this book. It turns out that the book is much more about the trader than the golden age of the solar clipper.

If, like me, you come looking for interstellar adventure with destinations described as beautifully as the title suggests, you'll not find that here. The idea of the solar clipper is merely a backdrop as it provides ports for the story to take place.

If you're looking for a story of people coming together and forming friendships as they form an as-yet unexplored way to reasonably make money in the ports they visit, then this is a tale for you.

The characters are all at least relatable if not downright likable. And watching them come together to form plans and find success is enjoyable.

I never heard Nathan Lowell as narrator, so I can't chime in on the Lowell vs. Kafer debate. But I will say that I thought Jeffery Kafer did an admirable job. His narration may have leaned ever-so-slightly to the dry side, but overall he kept me interested and kept the voices between characters distinct enough to tell everyone apart. Actually, I kept thinking that he sounded like Charlie Sheen when he was reading scripture as Aramis in the '90s Three Musketeers movie.

I'm personally not going to go onto book two of the series. But that isn't because I didn't find the book well written and performed. On the contrary: if I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't have finished it. But this book just isn't my kind of subject matter.

But if this falls under your preferred subject matter, I highly recommend it.

Captivating

I was able to transport onto the ship alongside the other characters who inhabit the story. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

A classic

I loved the series. Hopefully we can hear more of it on Audible. This is a space opera of the classic kind. Having read the series numerous times, I'm glad to able to hear it on Audible.

Space age sailing

Really enjoyed this book, well written & great narration. Looking forward to the second book.

Great start

At first the narrator kind of grinded on me but I got used to it fairly quickly. Only think I can say about the book other than it being a great beginning to a series is just the way that The characters speak to each other not super realistic but it guess I’ll just chock it up to the future. Good listen though!!

A book that doesn’t really need action

I’m usually strictly an action person but man this book has really been doing great for me. I feel like it brings me along for the ride the whole time and very invested in the story.

Totally unexpected

I downloaded this book because it was included, i have since bought 4 additional books. It is surprisingly good and worth it!
