About this listen

He wants revenge, but he wants her more.

Once upon a time, there was a little boy.

His belly full of laughter, his life full of joy.

Until one day, something changed; stripped his innocence away.

The hole inside making space for the devil to come and play.

His dreams gone forever, he grew up way too fast.

An endless night of crocodiles, and watches made of glass.

He grew into a villain, the taste of vengeance on his tongue.

Craving to make his enemies pay for the misdeeds they had done.

Instead he found a darling girl, and refused to let her go.

For what better way to make the man pay, than to steal his little shadow.

Hooked is a full-length, complete standalone in the Never After series: a collection of dark romances where the villain gets the girl. It is not a literal retelling. It is a dark, contemporary romance (not a fantasy) featuring mature themes and content that may not be suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised.

Predictable story line, it was okay. I slipped to the end after chapter 35. I didn’t care to listen to the rest. Epilogue tells you the ending

Eh

Story lacked for me and I didn’t feel a connection to any of the characters. Also the fake accents threw me off.

Not for me

Don’t waste your time, life is precious and you only get one shot at it.

Not worth it

MMC pov narrator was much better than the FMC pov narrator. I thought there would be more clever ties to the Peter Pan story, not a retelling but themes, etc.

Overall kind of boring

I love this storyline. It was unexpected and the twist and turns are just perfect. Kept pulling me in and I couldn’t stop. On to the next book.

Must listen!!!

The way this author incorporated the details from Peter Pan without doing a remake was amazing! I loved seeing all the little details and nods to the story but making them completely different, like pixie dust being a drug or the Jolly Roger being a bar. The thing I was most impressed by though was the way the author made me love and root for Hook! Never in my life would I have thought I would love a version of Captain Hook yet here I am!

I thought the narrators did a really good job bringing these characters to life. The performance overall was really good but there were moments where it was almost easy to lose focus/tune it out and I found myself having to restart a few chapters multiple times. I loved Rupert's version of Hook but I also really liked Felicity's version which I feel is rare for me. Normally I'm not a big fan of women doing men's voices, especially when its dual narration, but I thought she did a good job. I would honestly listen to her narrate a full book by herself.

I absolutely loved the story overall and I can already tell it will be one I listen to many more times in the future.

This is the kind of retelling I love

This book is not a retelling but it contains many snippets from the Peter Pan movies! Just enough to make you smile without being overdone! This book is great and the narrator’s are excellent. I don’t believe I’ve ever listened to either of them before but I love what they did and how they changed for each character. Angie’s voice was my favorite! The story line was enticing and kept me in the story wanting more and that ending! I couldn’t have hoped for a better ending for James and Wendy. I can’t wait to read more by this author!

Amazing!

I am in love with this book! My heart still pounding hard! This was my first dark romance book I have ever read, and I must say it will definitely be my new favorite genre! I bought the physical book about a month ago, and when I started reading it I couldn't put it down. literally finished it in 2 days, which for me is impossible. I never read a book that fast front to back. after I finished it I had to hear the audible version of it! let me tell you I was not disappointed 😍 by far my favorite version of Hook! this author has a way with making you envision yourself as Wendy and Hook and just fell every morsel of emotion pouring out of them. and yes this book is not ment for everyone there are triggers but damn is she good! I do recommend this book a read if you are into this genre!

What an adventure!!!!

This book...this book was everything. James starts off wanting Wendy for revenge. He begins a relationship with her to use her against her father, Peter. But in the process of courting her, he develops feelings but soon accuses her of plotting against him.
There more to this story....but I don't want to spoil it. Just know that it's a great story and it will hold your interest.
